Process Automation Engineer - Hanville , Louisiana
We are currently seeking a Process Automation Specialist for our St. Charles Operations (SCO) site in Hahnville, LA. The successful candidate for this job will be part of the SCO Hydrocarbons Control Team. This team improves the plants' Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) performance and value to Dow by maintaining and upgrading control hardware, software, programs, and philosophy. The control team assists operations and plant staff in determining how best to safely run the plant. In addition, the control team implements capital, expense, and Six Sigma projects.
There are numerous control systems within SCO including Foxboro and Triconex. Also, projects are underway to install new ABB control platforms in this unit. The successful candidate needs to be willing, over time, to learn and interact with all of these systems. In addition, there are capital project plans to upgrade several of these control systems and install burner management and SIS. It is also expected that the candidate will become proficient in hydrocarbons technology and Dow's project methodology.

INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS: Must have strong interpersonal skills and experience in working with shift and technical operations teams. Candidate must be able to work with multiple functions. Good communication skills are required.
TEAMWORK: Excellent knowledge of team dynamics and empowerment is required. -- demonstrate strong commitment to achieving team goals.
INITIATIVE: Must have ability to identify and drive continuous improvement in EH&S and plant performance. Candidate must have the ability to work independently without a lot of input from supervision.
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: Candidate must have a strong technical base and a very good understanding of process control and technical tools used to troubleshoot and solve problems.
LEADERSHIP: Must have the ability to influence a diverse work group toward the achievement of plant and project goals.
VALUE CREATION: Must align personal goals to the overall business and plant goals. All projects and activities must be evaluated to determine the level of value gained or destroyed.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required (Chemical or Electrical Engineering is preferred).
Minimum of 2 years experience in the chemical industry and with chemical process equipment
Preferred Skills/ Background:
8 - 12 years of industry experience
Production experience
Broad knowledge and skills in all aspects of Process Control Engineering
In-depth knowledge of applying distributed control systems
Six Sigma Certification; Professional Engineer Certification
